Irish civil births, marriages and deaths finally updated online

In a blog post back in January 2019, I reported that IrishGenealogy.ie was to update its online Irish civil births, deaths and marriage records. Although they promised the records would be available early in 2019, they finally delivered this week - some five months after they made the announcement.

Beggars can’t be choosers though and this is another tremendous move forward in digitizing Ireland's official births, marriages and death records. Most (but not all) of the collection’s outstanding records are now online. We now have free access to the following civil records via IrishGenealogy.ie:

Births:

1864 to 1918 indexes and register images (with 1917 & 1918 added this week); Marriages: 1864 to 1943 indexes and register images.

(This week’s new records are:

register images : 1864-1869;

indexes and register images : 1942 & 1943);

Deaths:

1864 to 1878 indexes only;

1879-1968 indexes and register images.

(New indexes and registers have been added this week for 1967 & 1968.)

The full collection is not yet complete and the following records are yet to come:

Marriages (non-Roman Catholic only): 1845 to 1863 register images;

Deaths: 1864 to 1878 register images.

As yet there is no indication as to when the eagerly-awaited remaining records will be made available online.

Conclusion

As always, we need to thank the Irish Government for its generosity in making these records available free of charge to the public.

If this website is not in your Irish genealogy toolkit, then it should be - not least because it's online and free.
